Athlete Saves Struggling Senior Dog From River

Aside from being a member of the CFL Blue Bombers from Winnipeg, Brady Oliveira is likewise a fur parent. When he is not training with his professional team, Brady could be found playing with his rescue pooch, Nellie. If he is not walking his pooch, he would be seen volunteering for the organizations he believes in like the K9 Advocates.

The volunteers from the K9 Advocates, along with Brady, visited Maple Grove Dog Park in St. Vital one day. Little did the volunteers know that this adventure would turn out to be a rescue operation for them. Ashley Bourgeois’ pooch decided to go into the river to swim. This development made Ashley very pleased because her pooh suffered from arthritis. The swimming meant that the dog could already control his mobility.

However, during that time, the current was too strong for the old pooch. The strong current made the dog struggled to go back to the bank. In an interview, Ashley shared that the pooch could not get out of the water due to the strong current. No matter how hard the pooch tried, he could not do it. When the pooch felt exhausted, he immediately gave up and instead sought help from the people nearby.

Good thing, Brady was there to lend a helping hand. The athlete did not hesitate to toss himself on the river despite the strong current. He then grabbed the pooch and brought him to safety. According to Brady, it was not the afternoon he was expecting during that day. However, he is always willing and ready to help those in need, especially dogs.

After the rescue, Ashley thanked the athlete for his kind heart as well as a quick response. Brady, meanwhile, told Ashley to be careful next time, especially in handling senior dogs.
